Urban List Joe's Deli GC
There’s something about a loaded, freshly made deli sandwich that hits different. Whether it's the nostalgia, the cloud-soft fresh bread or the oozing fillings that don’t quite fit, Italian deli sandwiches are on another level. Say hello to Joe’s Deli, the traditional Italian-style delicatessen bringing the flavours of Italian American street food to the Gold Coast.
If the word ‘delicatessen’ brings to mind sad salads and soggy sandwiches, let us stop you right there. Joe’s Deli isn’t your typical ‘grab’n’go’ style deli—the New York-inspired fit out, the nostalgic hand-painted signs, the 90’s hip hop music—it all exudes an air of old-fashioned charm and warm hospitality that will have you coming back again..and again. Located in the heart of Pacific Fair, Joe’s Deli is set to open in late Juy and is on a mission to make the humble sandwich great again. We're here for it.
The menu showcases an extensive array of deli sandwiches, piadinas (Italian flatbreads), classic deli goods, cold cuts, salads and sweets. The Porto Cervo piadina is loaded with Swiss brown mushrooms, onion, parmesan, chimichurri and truffle mayo and the Buffalo Buy Po Boy is stacked with Southern fried Moreton Bay bugs, lemon pepper, buffalo hot sauce, red onion pickle and ranch dressing. Enough said.
If that didn't already have you drooling, the man behind the deli, Patrick Killalea has been working on opening Joe’s Deli for almost two decades after being inspired whilst working as a chef in Italy and cooking for celebrities such as Pink Floyd, Rhianna and Madonna. He’s also the co-founder of the cult-favourite burger brand Milky Lane, so you know it’s going to be damn good.
